Börner is optimistic about the future

(Nauheim, July 6, 2015) On July 5, the Hans Börner GmbH & Co. KG celebrated its 70th company anniversary. The family business with 34 qualified employees is one of the first German companies of the plastics processing industry and was founded in 1945 by Hans Börner in Nauheim. Meanwhile, the medium-sized company plans, develops, manufactures and sells daylight elements for flat roofs and facades for natural illumination, ventilation and smoke extraction of buildings. As the oldest German and the only Hessian skylight manufacturer, Börner is particularly appreciated by national and international architects for their individual consultation, flexibility and expertise and for their customized constructions - such as the glazed roof structures of large football stadiums in Nuremberg, Hoffenheim, Dresden, Cologne, Leverkusen, Bremen, Vienna, Bucharest, Brasilia and Natal (Brazil). To this day, we have implemented more than 100,000 m² of processed glass surface for stadiums worldwide, both horizontally and vertically.

Already in 2009 and after 41 years of dedicated service to the company, senior director Ortwin Lempert passed the reins to the next generation. Since 6 years, his son Holger is the sole managing director, while having joined the company already in 2000. Previously, the business graduate has gained international experience in the USA and Taiwan, as well as professional experience in different German companies.

From the new service-oriented customer app to the leading role in developing a certified skylight for passive houses saving energy with natural light, all the way to the current new product, the curb with anchor point: "Going forward, we will continue to focus on individual consultation, flexibility and expertise as well as on the latest technical requirements of our customers. Innovations will continue to be the center point of our strategic product and business development, "explains Managing Director Holger Lempert. He adds that these goals can only be achieved with a corporate culture that emphasizes the responsibility towards its employees and customers.

  • The company's history at a glance
    • In 1945, the company is founded in Nauheim by engineer Hans Börner, the grandfather of the company’s current managing director. During the first year, the company produces protective glasses and rulers for industrial use.
    • In 1955, the first skylights are manufactured for flat roofs. The company moves its headquarters from Mühlstraße into Odenwaldstraße.
    • In 1959, after the early death of Hans Börner, his wife Marie becomes the company's Managing Director. She leads the company for 20 years.
    • In 1979, Ortwin Lempert takes over the management of the company.
    • In 1996, the company moves into the present premises in Rudolf-Diesel-Strasse in Nauheim.
    • In 2000, the son of Ortwin Lempert, Holger Lempert, joines the company.
    • In 2009, Ortwin Lempert retires and his son Holger becomes the sole Managing Director.
